采用熔融急冷法在母体玻璃中原位析出四方LiYF4和立方ZnAl2O4两种纳米晶。结构和光谱表征表明Ln3+(Ln=Eu, Tb, Dy)随玻璃原位晶化进入LiYF4晶相, 而Cr3+进入ZnAl2O4晶相中, 因此发光中心Ln3+和Cr3+实现空间隔离, 有效抑制其能量传递, 从而同时得到Ln3+和Cr3+的高效发光。此外, 利用Ln3+和Cr3+发光对温度的不同响应, 实现Ln3+/Cr3+的荧光强度比温度传感。在 377 nm波长激发下, Tb3+和Cr3+同时被有效激发, 并且Tb3+: 5D4→7F5和Cr3+: 2E→4A2能级跃迁强度比呈现出强烈的温度依赖特性, 测温相对灵敏度在570 K时达到最大值0.80%·K-1; 在364 nm波长激发下, Dy3+的4F9/2→6H13/2和Cr3+离子的2E→4A2能级跃迁强度比随温度变化而剧烈变化, 测温相对灵敏度在573 K时达到最大值0.86%·K-1。因此, 双晶相玻璃陶瓷可有效隔离Ln3+和Cr3+等不同发光中心, 同时实现高效发光, 有利于荧光强度比光学测温, 同时也拓展了玻璃陶瓷材料的应用。

提出了结构简单的光纤布喇格光栅(FBG)双波长全光自动增益箝制方案,并进行了相关实验.结果表明,在三种不同的箝制波长组合1535.64 nm+1562.68 nm、1530.48 nm+1562.68 nm、1530.48 nm+1551.36 nm条件下,1540 nm信号的输出增益大小和输入信号功率动态范围几乎一致.对应此三种箝制波长组合,环路内的损耗分别为:14.7 dB、15dB、15 dB.由此证明,在相同泵浦条件和环路损耗条件下,此三种不同箝制波长组合具有近似相同的箝制效果.而1551.36 nm+1562.68 nm箝制波长组合得到的结果相差甚远.此结果说明,在设计双波长全光自动增益箝制掺铒光纤放大器(OAGC-EDFA)时,为了取得足够大的信号增益,两箝制波长的波长间隔应尽量较大.

报道了一种新型环形腔可调谐多波长光纤激光器,腔内以半导体光放大器为增益介质,利用高双折射光纤构成的高双折射环形镜的滤波特性,在室温下,获得了基本符合ITU-T标准100GHz的17个波长以上的稳定多波长输出.各信道峰值功率差小于6dB,线宽小于0.102nm,信噪比大于25dB.通过调节高双折射环形镜内的偏振控制器状态实现了这一组波长整体在50GHz范围内连续可调谐.并利用实验方法,对该光纤激光器应用于掺铒光纤放大器对多信道放大性能测试的可行性进行了初步探讨.

By using the amplified 10-GHz, 5.5-ps sech2 pulses with high quality and chirp-free from regeneratively mode-locked fiber laser (RMLFL) as the soliton source, 2-5 order optical soliton phenomena are observed successfully in a 4.28-km dispersion flattened fiber. The experimental results agree well with the theoretical calculation.

An optimized two-stage-cascade double-pass structure L-band preamplifier was proposed and experimentally studied to overcome the shortcomings of low gain coefficient and high noise figure of L-band erbium-doped fiber amplifier (EDFA). The fiber lengthes of 6.5 and 32.5 m, pump powers of 130 and 119 mW for the first and second stages respectively are used in the experiment. When input signal power is -30 dBm, the amplifier can provide gain above 38.84 dB in a wavelength range of 34 nm (1568---1602 nm), gain ripple less than 2.04 dB (40.88---38.84 dB), and noise figures lower than 5.29 dB with the lowest value of 3.95 dB at 1590 nm. Experimental and simulation results show that this low cost and high pump efficiency amplifier is suitable for the application as an L-band preamplifier in the broadband fiber communication system.

Focused on the low noise figure requirements of erbium-doped preamplifiers, a two stage cascade preamplifier was presented based on the optimized design. With the total fiber length of 31.4 m and total pump power of 135 mW, this preamplifier can produce above 30-dB gain and keep the noise figure below 4.76 dB for all C-band signals, with the minimum noise figure as low as 3.38 dB for -30-dBm, 1550-nm signal.

A broadband amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) source of 88 nm is demonstrated using novel bismuth-based erbium-doped fiber (EDF) with the length of only 49.2 cm in a bi-direction pumping scheme. The maximum output power of 14.3 dBm is obtained under total pump power of 162 mW. The fiber loop mirror which works as a broadband reflector is responsible for the broadband output spectrum of this source according to the experiments.

A 10-GHz soliton source with pulse duration between 4-8 ps and wavelength continuously tunable from 1530 to 1563 nm is presented. Using regeneratively mode-locking technology, the harmonically mode-locked fiber ring laser could work without pulse dropout at room temperature when no cavity length or polarization maintaining mechanism is available. Applying only one 980-nm laser diode pump, the average output power reaches more than 4 mW.

A novel tunable multi-wavelength fiber ring laser based on semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA) is proposed by using a high-birefringence (Hi-Bi) fiber loop mirror (FLM) as wavelength filter. With this configuration, the wavelength spacing of this laser can be varied by using the different lengths of Hi-Bi fiber. 8 wavelengths spacing on 450 GHz are experimentally obtained with more than 25-dB signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) for each channel using 1.28-m Hi-Bi fiber in Hi-Bi FLM. The output power variation between different channels is measured to be less than 5.9 dB. The linewidth of each channel is compressed from 0.347 to 0.186 nm by 1.5-m unpumped erbium-doped fiber (EDF). Meanwhile, 17 wavelengths spacing on ITU-gird (100 GHz) are also obtained with 5.9-m Hi-Bi fiber in Hi-Bi FLM. All these channels can be tuned together over 0.4 nm.
